Oil and tar deposits - update

Deposits of oil and tar have been found along the stretch of coast between Deal Pier and Sandwich Bay. Inspections have taken place and we are working to clear the deposits as quickly as possible.

Dog owners are asked to keep their dogs on leads along the affected coast and beach users are advised to keep away from oil deposits. If you see substantial deposits of oil or larger dead animals (such as seals) please contact us on 01304 821199 with a brief description and the location. The council is working with Kent County Council, Thanet District Council, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and the Environment Agency.
