Roofing

The roof covering to your home is one of the most important components as it is the first line of defence against water penetration and heat loss.

We use the original construction date of the property, and records of repairs to set the programme for each year. It is not always possible to keep to the construction date as some properties are in very exposed locations and therefore require a new covering due to frequent repairs than properties in more sheltered areas.

When we replace the covering, we use a similar colour and profile of tile, replace the timber battens that the tiles are fixed to, and the underfelt which provides an additional layer of water protection. We also renew the facias, soffits and rainwater gutters and downpipes.

As we have access to the loftspace, we take the opportunity to increase the depth of insulation to meet the latest standards which helps with energy efficiency.

What to expect when you have a roof replacement

You will be notified of the contractor who will be carrying out the works and they will then contact you to arrange a start date. Scaffolding will be required to access the whole roof and you will be informed of when this will be erected and taken down. It is not uncommon for scaffolding to be put up a week or two ahead of the works starting.

All efforts will be made to keep your property protected from the weather during the course of the works and there may a short period of time where we will need to turn off your boiler if the flue

All efforts will be made to keep your property protected from the weather during the course of the works and there may a short period of time where we will need to turn off your boiler if the flue runs through the roofspace.

All of the work is carried out from the outside so there should be no need to enter your property.
