Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP)

Sustrans (a charity making it easier for people to walk and cycle) is working with Dover District Council to develop a Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP).

The LCWIP is a district wide plan which seeks to connect people and places across the district with safe and accessible routes for everyone. This will help Dover achieve its targets on carbon neutrality whilst improving air quality, health and the economy.

In 2020, Sustrans completed the 'four towns review' of our major settlements. In-person events were then held on Monday 13 May (2:30pm – 6:30pm) and Tuesday 14 May (10am – 1pm) at St Mary’s Church Parish Centre, Dover.

Two online workshops have now been arranged if you were unable to make the in-person events. These will be held on Tuesday, 21st May and Wednesday, 22 May.

How to comment on the consultation:

By accessing our online consultation, you can add your comments and discuss any route across the district

The link  provides a map of the Dover District which enables your suggested comments to be recorded for the proposed routes (as taken from the 2020 Town Audits and Routes) that you would like to see in Dover enabling a better connection to the whole district.

  1. Reviewing the town-wide routes - click on a route (and then click 'Add point') to answer a short survey relating to the prioritisation of the route and help to determine which of these routes should be included in the overall Dover District network.
  2. Click anywhere on the map to answer the second part of the survey relating to proposed new routes to connect settlements across the District, Core Walking Zones, and existing barriers to walking and cycling.
  3. If you'd like to add a potential route or desire line, click anywhere on the map to draw this line. If you'd like to highlight an area which could be a potential core walking zone or focus area, click anywhere on the map to create a polygon.
