Free Parking From Dover District Council for the Festive Season

Dover District Council is to offer free parking from 4pm for Christmas lights switch on event days in Dover, Deal and Sandwich – in addition we will be offering one hour free parking added on when people buy one hour or more from 14 December to 1 January.

Parking will be free in DDC car parks from 4pm in the town of the event for Christmas light switch ons in Deal on Saturday 23 November, in Sandwich on Saturday 30 November, and in Dover on Saturday 7 December for the Winter Light-up event.

In addition, DDC is offering a one hour free scheme from 14 December 2024 to 1 January 2025, when a minimum of one hour parking is purchased. The one hour free parking will be added to people’s parking time, when people pay for one hour or more in DDC owned car parks.

This comes as the district continues to encourage people to shop local and enjoy the great range of shops, attractions and fantastic places to eat and drink across White Cliffs Country, as we get ready for a range of activities this festive season.

For more information on DDC car parks, please see www.dover.gov.uk/parking.  For more details on visiting the district, and local events in the area this Christmas, please see the White Cliffs Country website at www.whitecliffscountry.org.uk

Notes:

All other parking restrictions will still apply.  The schemes above are for DDC owned car parks only and do not include on street parking.

For enforcement purposes for the one hour free scheme, Civil Enforcement Officers on seeing the expiry time on a pay and display ticket or RingGo session, will add one hour to it to determine the amended expiry time.  This will be clearly signed within the car parks.

Free parking will be offered on Christmas lights switch on days between 4pm and 6pm in DDC owned car parks in the town of the event in Deal, Sandwich, and Dover.   In order to park for free during this time, the vehicle will need to leave prior to charging recommencing in the car parks at 8am the following day, or if a longer stay is required after charging recommences, additional time must be purchased after 6pm.
