A key partnership promoting and installing energy efficiency measures in communities has been recognised after Dover District and Dartford Borough Councils won the Regional Council or Local Authority Body of the Year award at a recent ceremony.
The two councils working together won the award in the Regional Energy Efficiency Awards for the South East this month. The award celebrated the partnership working between the councils for showing a true commitment to promoting energy efficiency and making a real impact at a local level.
The award recognised a number of successful projects, including Local Authority Delivery Schemes, the First Time Central Heating Scheme, DDC’s Green Business Grants, Solar Together, Collective Energy Switching, and the successful joint application to the Home Upgrade Grant (being delivered now).
Dover District Council, Dartford Borough Council and Aran Insulation were also Highly Commended in the Regional Large Scale Project category for delivering the Sustainable Warmth Scheme. The award was in recognition of delivering a successful project while maintaining excellent customer service that demonstrates a high standard of quality workmanship throughout the project.
Cllr Sue Beer, DDC Cabinet Member for Environment and Climate Change, said: “This is a well-deserved award, recognising the massive and sustained effort of DDC officers, along with officers from Dartford, to access resources and carry out significant upgrades to DDC’s housing stock.
“Dover District Council will be taking even greater steps in future not only to achieve targets set in its Climate Change Declaration, but also to influence and enable local businesses, organisations and householders to do everything possible to lower their carbon emissions.”
