Communities across the district are benefitting from a welcome Lotto boost – with local good causes receiving more than £150,000 from the Dover District Lotto since it was launched by Dover District Council in 2019.
Over 137 local charities, community groups and clubs are benefitting from a regular income thanks to the Dover District Lotto. There is no cost to sign up as a beneficiary of the lottery, and 60% of ticket sales go direct to local good causes.
Tickets cost just £1 and players can select which local good cause to support. To date, players have won more than £33,500 in prize money, with one lucky player supporting the Elvington and Eythorne Heritage Centre recently winning £2,000.
Stuart Elgar from the Elvington and Eythorne Heritage Centre said: “Dover District Lotto gives our supporters the opportunity to win fabulous prizes for a small amount of money whilst helping to ensure the sustainability of our Heritage Centre.”
Cllr Oliver Richardson, DDC Cabinet Member for Community, said: “Dover District Lotto has proved invaluable for local good causes, and we'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported it. Alongside our community grants programme, the Lotto has provided a cash lifeline for many local charities and voluntary groups, helping them to maintain their fantastic services for the community.”
