Dover District Council is welcoming news that it has received a grant of over £400k to continue to help households in the district - after receiving the local allocation of the extension of the Government’s Household Support Fund from Kent County Council.
The additional grant is intended to be used to continue to support families and pensioners who need it the most to buy food or pay essential utility bills, or meet other essential living costs. This follows a previous grant of over £170k to help support households most in need with essentials over the winter.
Dover District Council has welcomed an allocation of £411,174 from the fund, and is using this to support:
- Dover Foodbank - £40,000
- Deal Foodbank (which includes rural provision) - £40,000
- Sandwich Age Concern – £60,000
- Deal Centre (Age Concern) - £60,000
- Dover Riverside Centre (Friends of Age UK) - £60,000
- CAB Dover District - £50,000
- United Families - £15,000
- To be used by DDC to help communities, including heating/boiler repairs for homes, and energy efficiency measures to reduce energy costs for residents - £86,174.
Cllr Trevor Bartlett, Leader of Dover District Council, said: “We continue to work hard to provide help and support to our communities. We are very pleased to be able to allocate this important additional funding, and to continue to help this support reach those in our communities who need it the most.”
