Powering Up for Greener Town Centres

Business grants of up to £10,000 to support energy efficiency

Dover District Council has extended its successful town centre business grants scheme to help small businesses who want to reduce their carbon footprint, become more energy efficient, and cut their costs.  Small businesses with up to 10 employees can benefit from a Green Energy Grant for up to 50% of their project costs, up to £10,000.

The grant can cover projects designed to help town centre businesses in Dover, Deal and Sandwich to reduce their carbon footprint and improve energy efficiency.  Projects could include insulation and draft proofing, solar panels and solar thermal, LED lighting, and upgraded windows (subject to planning regulations).

Cllr Trevor Bartlett, Leader of Dover District Council, said: “We’re committed to reducing the district’s carbon footprint and helping local small businesses to become more energy efficient.

“Following the success of our Town Centre Business Grants in bringing empty properties back into commercial use, we’re delighted to extend the scheme by helping small businesses to improve their energy efficiency and cut their operating costs.”
