‘Back to Business’ Hub to help local businesses re-open safely

Dover District Council is to launch a one-stop-shop to support over 4,000 local businesses to get ‘back to business’ as high streets and commercial centres re-open across the district.

The ‘Back to Business’ Hub will help the district’s small businesses to interpret and understand the latest Government guidance and advice so they can operate safely.

From Monday (15 June) local businesses can access a wide range of online guidance at www.dover.gov.uk

Local businesses can also seek one-to-one advice on re-opening by e-mailing backtobusiness@dover.gov.uk or by calling a dedicated business hotline on 01304 821199 (select option 8) from Monday.

The Hub provides local businesses with a single point-of-contact for all Council services, as well as signposting to other key agencies.

Officers from DDC will also be proactively contacting businesses in the district to understand their plans for opening and whether they need any advice and support, and to share best practice.

Cllr Trevor Bartlett, Leader of Dover District Council, said: “As lockdown restrictions are eased, we want to do everything we can to get the local economy back on track.

“The need for social distancing and enhanced hygiene measures is going to be a challenge for many local businesses.  We’ll help them to interpret the latest advice so that they can get back to business safely.

“We also want residents to have confidence too, so that they can show their support for the high street by staying local and shopping local.”

With the summer months approaching, there will be a particular emphasis on stimulating the retail, tourism and visitor economy.

The work of the Hub will complement the district’s “We’ll Meet Again” visitor campaign, rebuilding consumer confidence in the district as a safe place to visit.
