High-tech equipment joins traditional favourites at new Leisure Centre

Work is underway to install an exciting range of gym equipment at the new Dover District Leisure Centre which will feature one of the largest fitness suites in East Kent.  With over 120 pieces of cardio and resistance equipment, the centrepiece is a functional training rig surrounded by a multitude of cardio and resistance machines, and free weights.

Classic gym favourites will sit alongside the latest in fitness technology at the new leisure centre.  Among the exciting new cardio machines will be:

• Concept2 SkiErg offering a full body workout based on Nordic skiing.  Nordic skiing is renowned as one of the toughest workouts, developing both strength and endurance and exercising the legs, arms and core
• TechnoGym SKILLROW™ the first fully connected indoor rowing equipment that trains both cardio and power at athlete's level
• TechnoGym SKILLMILL™ bring a whole new dimension to the traditional treadmill, this new technology improves power, speed, stamina and agility.  Putting you in control, you go from resistance free running to an all-out sled push.

All of the gym equipment at the new leisure centre is compatible with wearable fitness technology and apps to enhance your fitness experience, whilst the friendly Places Leisure fitness team will be there to guide you with your personal training goals.

The free weights section includes a lifting platform with bar and bumper plates, dumbbells up to 50kg and barbells up to 45kg, as well as an Olympic power rack. 

For those looking to keep fit together with a group workout or fitness class, the leisure centre’s two workout studios are well equipped with Les Mills Smart Bars and Steps, 2-10kg medicine balls, resistance bands, studio/yoga mats, core bags, Dura balls, speed ropes, boxing equipment and dumbbells.

With 70 group classes a week, and a Les Mills Virtual Spin schedule in the separate cycling studio, your workout will never have been so much fun!

Ceiling to floor windows to one side with field views and a temperature controlled system, set dependant on the intensity of the class provides you with a perfect workout environment.
