Just five months after the Dover District Lotto started, one hundred local good causes are now benefitting with a regular income from the Lotto to support their work in local communities.
More than 27,000 tickets have been sold to date, putting Dover District Lotto on track to generate in the region of £40,000 for local causes in its first year. The latest good causes to sign up are the Aylesham and Snowdown Social Welfare Scheme, Includes Us 2, and the Solve Charity for Mental Health.
Derek Garrity from the Aylesham and Snowdown Social Welfare Scheme said: “We are very pleased to be part of Dover District Lotto and be a designated good cause. We are looking forward to putting the funds towards improving facilities at our Spinney Lane sports grounds.”
Cllr Keith Morris, Leader of Dover District Council said: “We are delighted at the exciting news that 100 local causes are benefitting from the Dover District Lotto. With 60p in every £1 going direct to local good causes, it’s providing a regular income stream for them that’s making a real difference in the local community.”
For every £1 spent on the Dover District Lotto, 60p goes to local good causes. A wide range of causes are now benefitting, including groups supporting youth work, working with the elderly, and supporting people with disabilities, community centres and community groups, animal charities, groups protecting the environment or preserving local history, and local sports groups.
