Three out of the eight awards on offer at the Kent Tourism Awards 2018 went to tourism businesses in the Dover district, with Wingham the big winner! The Dog at Wingham was a double winner, taking home the Taste & Tell Award (Taste of England award) and the Raising the Bar Award (tourism pub of the year), whilst Wingham Wildlife Park took the Big Day Out award for large visitor attraction of the year.
Cllr MJ Holloway, Dover District Council’s Cabinet Member for Tourism, said: “We are committed to supporting, and growing the tourism economy in the Dover district, and it’s great to see businesses in the Dover district achieving the recognition they deserve.
“I continue to be impressed by the commitment of many of our tourism businesses to raise the quality of offer and put the district on the map as a great place to visit.”
This year’s success follows on from last year’s awards when the Battle of Britain Memorial at Caple-le-Ferne won the Hidden Gem Award 2017 (small visitor attraction of the year), and The White Horse in Dover won the Raising the Bar Award 2017 (tourism pub of year).
