Dover District Council’s in-house Parks & Open Spaces team has welcomed the first community payback placements for people serving their sentence in the community in a new partnership with the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Community Rehabilitation Company.
Cllr Trevor Bartlett, Cabinet Member for Property Management, said: “Everyone deserves a second chance and we’re delighted to be working with the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Community Rehabilitation Company to offer placements for those serving a community sentence.
“Our Parks & Open Spaces team are making a real difference in the community, and it’s great that we can offer to share our skills with people who are making a concerted effort to get their lives back on track.”
Dover District Council is supervising the placements and providing all the necessary personal protective equipment.
Sharon Moxon, Community Payback Placement Co-ordinator with the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Community Rehabilitation Company, said: “It’s great to work with a progressive employer like Dover District Council that can offer practical experience for people serving their sentence in the community and giving them a real chance to gain new skills to get back into work.”
