Local Groups Help Shape New Local Plan

Local Plan workshop

Representatives of town and parish councils along with businesses, civic and community groups have taken part in a workshop to help shape the review of Dover District Council’s Local Plan which sets the framework for development in the district over the next twenty years to 2037.  Over 70 people from all walks of life attended the workshop at The Ark in Dover with a wide-ranging discussion on everything from the vision for the district, to housing and infrastructure, heritage and landscape.

Cllr Jim Back, Cabinet Member for the Built Environment, said: “It was great to get the views of so many organisations.  Local voices are a key part of our review of the Local Plan and the feedback from the workshop was very positive.

“The wider public will also get an opportunity to have their say when we go out to full consultation on the Local Plan in summer 2019 and early in 2020.  The final plan will also be examined in public by a planning inspector.”

Further workshops are being planned for the autumn, including an event to specifically capture the views of young people.

Summary reports from the workshops will be available on the DDC website in the autumn as part of the evidence base for the Local Plan review.  To find out more about the Local Plan Review visit the DDC website or e-mail regenerationdelivery@dover.gov.uk
