Residents across the Dover district can take part in an online survey to help map out the future of its parks and open spaces, and children can have their say too with a survey specially designed to capture the views of young people.

The survey also includes sports pitches and outdoor facilities in the district and supports the Council’s mission to enable residents to lead healthy and active lifestyles.

Knight, Kavanagh and Page (KKP) has been appointed by Dover District Council to update its Parks and Amenity Open Space Strategy, and the Playing Pitch & Outdoor Sports Facility Strategy which will form part of the council’s review of the Local Plan, shaping development across the district up to 2037.

Cllr Trevor Bartlett, Cabinet Member for Corporate Property, said: “We’ve seen considerable new investment in our parks, open spaces, and outdoor sports facilities in recent years, based on previous strategies developed between 2013 and 2015.

“We want to update these strategies as part of the review process.  Working with KKP we’ll be consulting with local residents, community groups and sports clubs to ensure they have access to the best facilities we can provide.”

To conform to best practice, assessment of pitches and outdoor sports facilities takes place on a sports’ seasonal basis.  As a result, the Playing Pitch & Outdoor Sports Facility Strategy will evolve over a longer period of time.  Therefore, it is anticipated the strategies will be fully completed in mid-2019.
