Dover District Council has welcomed today’s announcement that a new Medical School is to be established in Canterbury.
Cllr Keith Morris, Leader of the Council, said: “This is great news for East Kent. As well as establishing a local centre for training the doctors of the future, it also supports the continuing development of Discovery Park in Sandwich as one of the leading centres for life sciences and pharmaceuticals.
“Clinical skills are vital to the development of new medicines and drug therapies, so the new Medical School will provide great opportunities for the research community at Sandwich.”
Discovery Park is a major centre for life sciences with tenants including international pharmaceutical companies, Pfizer and Mylan, along with a wide range of biopharmaceutical businesses at the cutting edge of medical research, including A4P Bio, Agalimmune, Centauri Therapeutics, Curadev, Genea Biomedx, Salvenis, Venomtech, and Viramal.
