Dover District Council Serves 215 Notice to Improve The Regent in Deal

Dover District Council has served a section 215 notice under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 on the owners of The Regent on Victoria Parade in Deal.

The notice requires the owners to undertake works to improve the condition of the building, including:

  • Removing overgrown vegetation
  • Repairing guttering and down pipes
  • Removing rust and peeling paint from the gable domed panel, supporting piers, and wall facing the Time Ball Tower Museum
  • Treating with anti-rust paint, stabilising primer and at least two coats of matching cream paint

Cllr Keith Morris, Leader of Dover District Council, said: “We understand the frustrations of local people at the slow progress of redevelopment of The Regent following the Council’s sale in 2011.  We hope the developer comes forward with their proposals soon.

“In the meantime, however, we cannot allow such a prominent building to fall into further disrepair without taking action to improve the local amenity.”
