On 11 November 2018, the nation will mark the day 100 years ago when the guns fell silent at the end of the First World War – and communities across Dover District are invited to get involved, and to contact your council to help us to help you.
Battle’s Over is a unique series of events, involving organisations and communities the length and breadth of the nation and in many countries abroad, to remember the sacrifice of millions of men and women during World War One.
Battle’s Over is inviting local groups and organisations everywhere to get involved in a range of events, including:
- 6.00am – Individual bagpipers will play ‘Battle’s O’er’
- 6.55pm - Buglers will play the Last Post at Beacon sites around the country
- 7.00pm – Beacons of Light will be lit throughout the UK
- 7.05pm – Bells in churches and cathedrals will ring out.
Dover District Council is working to help communities and promote local events. If you are planning, or would like to hold a Battle’s Over event locally, please see our Battle’s Over page and complete our event form.
If your event requires the use of DDC land or a road closure, you must complete an events form 12 weeks before the event date, (17 August 2018). For more information on organising an event locally, please contact us at community@dover.gov.uk
The event information you give us will be shared with Bruno Peek, Pageantmaster and will also be publically available on the DDC interactive mapping system, (unless requested otherwise). Your personal details will not be shared with any 3rd parties.
For more information on the Battle’s Over event nationally, please see the official Battle's Over guide.
