Delivering affordable housing

The Council is committed to delivering and enabling the development and acquisition of a range of affordable housing across the district, either owned and managed by the Council, or by a Registered Provider (Housing Associations).

One of the key objectives of the Council’s Corporate Plan 2023-2027 is providing at least an average of 200 additional council homes (new build and acquisitions) each year (800 in total over the term of this plan). These homes will be for either general needs housing or temporary accommodation purposes.

Affordable housing includes homes for sale or rent and is designed for people whose needs are not met by the private market. Affordable housing is key to the government’s plan to end the housing crisis, tackle homelessness and provide aspiring homeowners with a step onto the housing ladder.

You can read more about the developments we are building including planned and already completed developments by visiting our dedicated development webpage.

We will aim to review and update the information on this page every financial quarter.
