Request

  1. I was interested in having the clock lit up again and need to know how the clock is lit up.  Is it done by electric bulbs inside the clock?
  2. If the clock is not lit up by bulbs inside the clock, how is it done?
  3. Is the maintenance of the lighting available from inside the building?
  4. If not achieved internally and is external would any work on the clock lighting require scaffolding to be used?
  5. What was the total cost of lighting up the clock?
  6. Does electricity power the lighting?

Response

  1. The refurbished clock is lit. The refurbished clock has an LED light source inside the clock.
  2. The refurbished clock has an LED light source inside the clock.
  3. Some of the equipment is internal but obviously some of the components necessary to light the clock are integral to the external dial housing.
  4. Should the illumination fail or the clock mechanism itself depending on the nature of the fault a scaffold of a MEWP (Mobile Elevated Working Platform) would be used.
  5. The Council does not hold this information.  There was inclusive rate for refurbishment of the clock the installation of the lighting. The clock lighting is not separately metered.
  6. Yes, the lighting is electrically powered.
