Request

  1. Regarding Thurston/Mannings fair, I am informed their deposit was returned but they were required to make a donation of £400 despite causing no damage. Please confirm this is correct and if so, what will the £400 donated be used for?
  2. The other fair to visit this year was Foresters. Their unit caused some identified damage, so was their deposit or part of it returned? If they were also asked for a donation, how much was it and what will it be used for?

Response

  1. Following a site inspection after the departure of Thurston Fair, £400 was used to level ground and re-seed grass at Pencester Gardens within the fair operational area following a diesel spillage.  The cost of this was retained from their deposit and was not a donation.  The area was re-seeded approximately three weeks ago.
  2. When Forests Fair were at Pencester Gardens in late May they caused some damage to five small areas of grass.  It cost £897.86 to repair this damage and this amount is being withheld from their deposit.  It is expected that the areas will be repaired during week commencing 14 October 2024.
