Response

  1. Meetings held at DDC offices and SWA location Worthing Sussex.
  2. Yes, stakeholder meetings with SWA representatives were held between November 2018 and Summer 2019. Recent meeting with SWA and Environmental Protection representatives on 7 August 2024.
  3. It is our understanding that the £3.9 million allocated for Deal Castle Beach was not solely for Dover District Council. The funding was part of Southern Water’s long term aim to work with local authorities, the Environment Agency, farmers and landowners to bring up the quality of bathing water. Please see attached Southern Water costings for DDC from the grant.
  4. Sampling positions for Designated Bathing Beaches are located under the EU Bathing Water Directive 2006/07. There are no plans to identify additional sampling locations.
