Fair Field Great Mongeham aka horses field adjacent and accessed via St Edmunds Road Great Mongeham (What Three Words - ///porch.masterpiece.subtitle) Please can you send me copies of any correspondence with regards the above land in relation to housing on this site Also can you send me any information with regards the decision made by DDC in the Local Plan that this land is unsuitable for development

The only correspondence between the Council and site promoters of the land referred to was a comment submitted during the consultation on the Council’s Submission Local Plan (Oct-Dec 2022), and this comment can be viewed by searching comment reference ‘SDLP1924’ in the Regulation 19 Schedule of Representations. The comment was promoting the land for self-build housing. 

The reason this is the only correspondence is that the land was assessed as part of a larger circa 10-hectare site, under reference GTM008, in the Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment (HELAA) that informed site selection in the emerging Local Plan. The GTM008 site boundary can be viewed on the Deal settlement map on the Council’s Local Plan website. The site came into the HELAA having been assessed as part of a previous Local Plan review, but the Council does not retain the submission details from that time due to data protection requirements. No comments were received promoting the site during the consultation carried out on the draft Local Plan (Jan-Mar 2021). 

The HELAA process is set out in detail in Chapter 1 of the HELAA Main Report, although we have provided the summary comments for GTM008 below for ease. This was taken from the HELAA Appendix 1A Site Assessments (2022) document.

Unsuitable site:

- Unacceptable heritage impact in relation to impact on the setting of the Listed Buildings and character of the Conservation Area

- Unacceptable landscape impact
