Request

  1. For the last 15 years I have asked that this clock be again lit up.  The clock is currently removed for restoration.  What is the nature of this restoration eg just a clean?
  2. Is the clock to be adapted so it can be lit up again?
  3. Please supply a copy of the instructions DDC gave to the relevant contractor for these works.
  4. What is the cost to DDC of this work on the Town Hall clock?

Response

  1. The clock drum was badly corroded, and the clock faces required repair.  Smith of Derby are undertaking restoration of the external parts of the clock.
  2. Smith of Derby have allowed for illuminating the clock faces with an internal LED lamp.
  3. The quote from Smith of Derby is attached.  This is the current basis of the work to the clock.
  4. This is set out in the attached quote.
