Floodlights At Sandwich

A partnership initiative to improve facilities for young people in Sandwich is bringing new floodlights for the skate park and games area at the Butts in the town. Sandwich Town Council and Dover District Council are funding the project and it is hoped that the lights will be installed in March.

Cllr Sue Chandler, Dover District Council Cabinet Member for Community, Housing and Youth, said: “We are very pleased that these lights will be installed soon.  Young people in Sandwich have been telling us for some time that they would like to see lighting in this area so they can use the facilities all year round.  We have worked hard with our partners in the community to make this happen.”

Cllr Joe Trussler, Sandwich Town Mayor, said: "Following negotiations between Sandwich Town Council and Dover District Council to get lighting installed at the Butts Recreation Area, it is really good news that the project is going ahead.  We have listened to the youth of the town and the local community and I would like to thank all those involved in achieving this excellent result."
