Dover District Neighbourhood Forums
What's Hot?
Are there any burning issues affecting your community? Let
us know what matters to you.
The Neighbourhood Forums provide an opportunity for local
people and communities to come together and have a say about where
they live and the services they receive. They represent all the
residents in the Dover district and can discuss a wide-range
of local and district wide issues, not just those involving Dover
District Council or Kent County Council.
We will invite speakers to come to the
meetings to talk and answer questions about specific topics chosen
by you - these can be councillors, council officers, police, health
and others. Past topics include planning, community safety, active
older people, climate change and youth services.
From July 2010, the Forums will hold two fixed meetings a
year (with set topics) and have the opportunity to hold a
further two flexible forum meetings a year. These meetings will be
arranged on an “as and when” basis and by not tying them
down to specific dates, set a year in advance, the Forums can be
more flexible and respond to issues as they arise and be of
more interest to local communities. (Criteria for calling a
flexible meeting is being agreed and will be available soon).
Therefore, we need to know what matters
to you. You can email any suggestions to: neighbourhoodforums@dover.gov.uk or
contact KCC Community Liaison Manager Anne Charman.
It would help if you could explain why you
think your Forum should discuss an particular topic and
what you would like to get from the meeting. This will ensure
we focus on the right area and invite the most
appropriate speakers.
The Neighbourhood Forums are also our preferred method of
consulting local residents. Information is power: come along
and find out what is happening in the district and how it could
affect you.
The Forums are a chance for you to “Have Your Say
and Make a Difference”.
