2010-11: New Look Neighbourhood Forums
Improving the Dover District Neighbourhood Forums (Forums) is a
continuous process. From July 2010, the Forums are
changing to become more flexible and responsive to local need -
within existing resource.
Changes to the Forums include:
- Holding two fixed forum meetings a year (instead of each
quarter);
- The opportunity to hold a further two flexible forum meetings a
year; and
- Participatory Budgeting which aims to give communities a say in
recommending which projects are worthy of
funding.
Fixed Meetings
You Decide: Participatory Budgeting - Community Voting
Events
- The first fixed meetings will be dedicated to
celebrating the Small Community Capital Project grants
given out by the Forums and piloting “You Decide: Participatory
Budgeting”.
- Events will be held during
September and October
2010.
- Watch out for details of these Forum
meetings and come along to vote for your favourite
projects.
- Please see our Funding Information pages for more
information on the Small Community Capital Projects grant fund
and Participatory Budgeting.
Annual Partners Update Events
- The second of the fixed meetings will be an
annual partners update meeting with representatives from partner
agencies (such as Kent Police, Eastern & Coastal Kent PCT, Kent
Highways Services etc) updating the community on what is happening
in the area and answering questions.
- These will be held as two half-day events,
covering the whole district, which will be devoted to either Urban
or Rural Issues.
- Members of the public are welcome to attend
one or both of these meetings.
- Dates and details of the Annual Partners
Update meetings will be confirmed as soon as possible - expected to
be March 2011.
Flexible Meetings
- The Forums will also be able to hold a further two meetings on
an “as and when” basis.
- By not tying them down to specific dates set a year in advance,
the Forums can deal with issues as they arise and be of more
interest to local communities.
- Please see the criteria for calling a flexible meeting in the
Protocol and Procedures for the Dover District Neighbourhood Forums
on our What's Hot in the district? page.
Details of all future
meetings will be confirmed as soon as
possible.
